Norfolk 'n' Good Rally
September 1st - 3rd
Loddon Marina Campsite, 12 Bridge Street Loddon, NR14 6EZ.
Last year's rally here was a ripping success. See the January February 23 edition of HV, page 6, to find out how that went. This year the campsite owners tell me the promised sparkly new toilet/shower block should be built by the time we need it. To pay for that, and their scandalous, mercenary attitude, pitches will cost £20 per night. Sorry Russell. Please complain if that's an outrage too far. I'll see what I can do.
However, for that price you get the town of Loddon too, full of pubs, shops, restaurants, takeaways, cafes and in case of mechanical failure, you can borrow my spanners just a few hundred yards away. Loddon is on the edge of The Norfolk Broads National Park, just as picturesque as Talybont on Usk but flat. We'll do breakfast in The Angel and dinner in The White Horse again if you like. There's chips or Chinese across the road from the campsite too.

The Saturday ride out is across the swamps where sometimes the river is higher than the road. Don't worry, the river banks don't leak, much. We have to cross The Yare on the chain ferry at Reedham, three outfits at a time. Motorcycles are £2, cars £4.50. I've no idea what they'll charge sidecars. This is the only way across the river between Norwich and Yarmouth, necessary because we're going to Strumpshaw Steam Museum on the North side for their Autumn Event. This is a sort of agricultural living history, steam rally. Sorry Russell, it costs £7 to get in but if we're lucky they might run their four cylinder Ruston pump engine. It's 12' tall and to feel it while it's running is intoxicating. Google Strumpshaw Steam Museum to make you need to go. There's lots of B&B available in the town and surrounding area.
